Obdia — Terms of Use
Last updated: 1 September 2026 · Obdia, by BacaSoftware
By installing and using Obdia you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the app.
1. What the app does and does not do
Obdia reads, displays and interprets information the vehicle makes available through the standard OBD-II connector, using a third-party adapter that the user buys and connects independently. The app does not repair anything and does not alter the vehicle's configuration, except for the explicit code-clearing function described in section 3. Code explanations and automatic analysis findings are indicative: they rest on generic technical information and engine physics, not on your vehicle's specific manufacturer data. Reading accuracy depends on the adapter and on the vehicle's own ECU, neither of which is part of this app; non-original adapters are frequently imprecise.
2. Use while driving
The app must not be operated while driving. Set it up with the vehicle stopped. The user is solely responsible for compliance with traffic regulations and for safe driving. BacaSoftware is not liable for penalties, accidents or damages arising from handling a mobile device while driving.
3. Clearing trouble codes
The app can issue the standard clear-codes command (OBD-II mode 04), after an explicit warning the user must confirm. Clearing codes turns off the warning light but does not repair the fault; it resets the emissions monitors, which will likely make the vehicle fail an inspection until it completes a drive cycle; and it removes diagnostic information a workshop might need. If the engine light was flashing, it must not be cleared and the vehicle must not be driven: that indicates an active misfire, and continuing to drive destroys the catalytic converter.
The clear command itself is a standard instruction that only erases stored information: it does not modify the ECU's programming, its fuel or ignition maps, or the vehicle's adaptations. The risk lies in driving without the warning that was removed, not in the command. Using that function is the user's decision, made with knowledge of these consequences and at their own risk.
4. Compatibility
The vehicle must comply with OBD-II or EOBD. In Europe this is mandatory for petrol cars registered from 2001 and diesels from 2004. Older vehicles, or those using proprietary protocols, may not work or may show incomplete data. On iPhone, due to an Apple operating system limitation outside this app's control, only Bluetooth LE and WiFi adapters are supported. The app is distributed free of charge and no compatibility with any specific vehicle or adapter is guaranteed.
5. Warranties and liability
The app is provided "as is", without warranty that it is error-free or fit for a particular purpose, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Within the limits the law allows, BacaSoftware shall not be liable for indirect damages, loss of profit, loss of data, or damages arising from repair or maintenance decisions taken on the basis of the information the app displays.
These limitations neither exclude nor restrict liability that the law does not permit to be excluded, in particular liability arising from wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or damage to life or personal integrity, nor any mandatory consumer rights.
6. Intellectual property
The app, its code, its texts and its trouble-code description database are the work of BacaSoftware and were written specifically for it. Vehicle or adapter manufacturer names that may appear belong to their respective owners and are cited solely for descriptive and compatibility purposes, implying no association or endorsement.
7. Personal data
Data handling is described in the privacy policy. In short: everything stays on the user's device and is never transmitted to any server.
8. Changes and governing law
These terms may be updated; substantial changes will be announced inside the app. They are governed by Spanish law. Users acting as consumers retain the right to bring proceedings before the courts of their domicile and to use the dispute resolution mechanisms consumer regulations afford them.
